Arsenal have now been in contact to sign a "spectacular" star, with manager Mikel Arteta known to be a big fan.

Having fallen just short in their pursuit of the Champions League, David Ornstein has suggested the Gunners are well-aware they lack the quality the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have in the final third, and want to bolster their attacking options this summer.

Ornstein said: “Arsenal know the need to improve at the top-end, they’re behind, statistically, the likes of PSG & Bayern Munich. The #9 position is interesting. The left-sided attack is a big priority for them, they’ve been looking at it for a few years & this may be the summer they really do go for something.”

“They want a #6/#8 midfielder, they want to strengthen at right-back as well. When you tally up the amount they could do, you could see that outlay from last summer repeated or even exceeded.”

The north Londoners' interest in signing a new winger also comes amid doubts surrounding Gabriel Martinelli's future, with it being revealed Andrea Berta is looking to offload the Brazilian this summer.

Berta is a big admirer of Athletic Club forward Nico Williams, but an approach has also been made to sign a different left-winger, who is highly regarded by Arteta.

According to a report from The Athletic, Arsenal have now submitted an enquiry regarding a deal for Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz, who rakes in £49,000-a-week at the Allianz Stadium.

However, the Italian giants have no interest in sanctioning a departure, and informed the Gunners the forward is not for sale, which means they have moved onto alternative options, with Leicester City youngster Jeremy Monga also of interest.

Monga is still just 16-years-old though, which suggests he may not be able to make an immediate impact at the Emirates Stadium, unlike Yildiz, who has been described as "spectacular" by Jacek Kulig, while also receiving plaudits from the scout for being two-footed.

The 21-year-old outperformed fellow target Williams across a number of important metrics for wingers in the 2025-26 season too.

Arteta is a massive fan of the Turkish youngster, and he has encouraged Berta to make a move in the past, so the manager may be disappointed a deal seemingly won't be possible this summer, with Fabrizio Romano confirming Juventus' stance.
