IPSWICH star Marcelino Nunez scored from the halfway line to compound yet more misery on pitiful Leicester City.

The Tractor Boys led 2-1 heading into injury time at Portman Road in round two.

And Nunez confirmed their place in the hat for the third round with a sensational strike.

The Chilean collected the ball in the centre circle just inside the Leicester half.

He spotted Foxes goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk off his line and let fly.

And his perfect lob caught Stolarczyk out, clipped the bar on its way in and bounced over the line.

The goal was not dissimilar to Abdul Fatawu’s astonishing effort for Leicester against Ipswich in the Championship last season.

The Ghana international then left relegated Foxes for the promoted Ipswich to return to the Premier League.

Nunez had earlier restored the lead for Gary O’Neil’s side with a neat finish off the post after Olebade Aluko’s first professional goal cancelled out Sindre Walle Egeli’s 62nd-minute opener.

Fans were loving the wondergoal on social media.

Lower-league Bromley, Wimbledon, Colchester and Newport had all toppled the Tractor Boys in recent campaigns but Leicester could not add to the sequence.

And the defeat worsened the mood around Leicester and new boss Russell Martin.

Their only win so far this campaign was over Northampton Town in the first round.

Their two League One results have seen them pick up a point against Notts County then lose to Burton Albion.

Elsewhere in Carabao Cup action on Tuesday night, Leeds won the all-Prem affair at Nottingham Forest 2-0, just days after meeting in the league.

Brentford stuffed Birmingham 6-1, Coventry saw off Plymouth 4-2 and Hull scraped past Stoke on penalties.

It finished Southampton 1-4 West Ham while Watford were humiliated 5-1 at home by Peterborough.
