The Michigan basketball team is en route to Indianapolis for the Final Four this weekend as we speak, but the Wolverines will briefly be without one of their starting players once they arrive.

According to WWJ Radio, a player on the team — later confirmed to be point guard Elliot Cadeau — was taken by an ambulance to a nearby medical facility to be checked out following an allergic reaction. “Player, said to be fine, expected to join the team later,” the radio station reported on social media.

Maize n Brew acquired a statement from the university, which reads: “Before the team departed the Player Development Center today, Elliot alerted the medical staff that he may have had an allergic reaction to something that he ate. The doctors evaluated Elliot and he is fine. Out of an abundance of caution, he is receiving medical supervision and will be traveling to Indianapolis later today.”

It sucks that this happened to Cadeau and he won’t be on the bus with his coaches and teammates as they travel to Indy, but it is great to hear that he is doing better now and that everything is okay. Food allergies are no joke, so hopefully he gets past this relatively fast and is ready to go come Saturday night.

The Wolverines will face Arizona on Saturday (9 p.m. or so following the conclusion of Illinois-UConn) for a spot in the National Championship Game on Monday night.
