Naqeeb
3.10 Goodwood
The big race of the day at Goodwood is the Group 2 Virgin Bet Celebration Mile, for which Zavateri is clear favourite.
This is a quick turnaround from last week's City of York fifth, however, and the margin beaten there hardly makes him a horse to run scared of.
He might well win, but I am going to have a few quid each-way on Naqeeb, who is underestimated most times he runs.
This is not quite as strong as the Summer Mile at Ascot in which he was fifth last time after making the running, and he does go very well at Goodwood.
On his last three runs there, he has been second in a Glorious Goodwood handicap giving 13lb to a horse who was rated 105 when last in action, won a Listed race there last September and finished a short-head second, conceding a 3lb penalty to Boiling Point (half the price here on worse terms), in May.
Those runs were all at a mile and a quarter, but Ascot proves he can be competitive at a mile too.
