The Transfer Flow's 2026-27 Premier League season preview

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The team here has been hard at work researching and writing for our Premier League season preview, and we’re thrilled to share it with you.

Ted and I wrote three previews each, and we also have contributions from Mohamed Mohamed, Neel Shelat, Hayden Van Brewer, Catalina Bush, and Jason Anderson.

At 40,000+ words, with unique stats and graphics for every team, this preview takes a lot of effort to put together. We want to be able to pay all of these people fairly for their work. You can get access to all 20 team previews here, and the whole thing is just £12.

Thanks to everyone who supports this project. We got a ton of support on last year’s previews, and as long as that level of support continues, we’ll keep doing this. If you want to see what you’re getting before you buy, we’ve unlocked last year’s Manchester City preview as an example. We cover all 20 teams in that level of detail.

All of our writers and podcast hosts voted on their predicted table, and what you see below is the average of that vote. Only two writers didn’t pick Arsenal to win the title, and no one had them lower than second. The group was torn on Liverpool, who got a title vote and a 6th place vote. Tottenham, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest had the highest variance, with no one particularly confident about whether those teams will be close to European places or well into the bottom half.

Hull was unanimously picked to finish bottom, but there was some other disagreement on the relegation places. While Coventry and Ipswich did end up getting voted 18th and 19th on average, there were also votes for Sunderland and Forest go down, and some 17th place votes for Fulham and Leeds. Collectively, we do think Coventry and Ipswich are good enough to make the relegation battle interesting.

Inside every preview, there’s a table with the xG and OBV lost and gained from the squad via transfers at the time of publish. Obviously, these numbers will change considerably between now and when the window shuts. We’ll update the previews the first week of September to reflect those changes.

There are also some transfers you won’t see discussed in the previews because, despite involving transfer fees, they don’t involve players who played for the selling club’s first team, or who are expected to play for their buying club’s first team this season. We mostly skipped those for team preview purposes, but they’ll be covered more extensively in our transfer grades this September. Those pieces are more about valuations and the business of player trading; these previews are about what’s actually happening on the pitch this year.
