There is a long-term interest in Scott, and the 22-year-old is currently enjoying the best season of his career. He continued his strong run of form in Bournemouth’s 2-2 draw with Leeds on Wednesday evening.

Alex Scott’s position perfectly suits Michael Carrick
It is looking more and more likely that Michael Carrick gets the United job in the summer after what has been an excellent interim spell.
Carrick has used a 4-2-3-1 shape at United and had huge success with it, but the Red Devils are in the market for a central midfielder who can replace Casemiro and play alongside Kobbie Mainoo.
Mainoo has often played on the left side of United’s midfield, with Casemiro to his right as his partner.

Interestingly, Scott lined up on the right of midfield in a 4-2-3-1 shape for Bournemouth, and that is where he has played most of his football this season.
It shows that Scott is an ideal partner for Mainoo if United are going to stick to their current shape next season. That may yet help his chances of landing a move to Old Trafford.
