England head coach John Mitchell: "That was a special performance, it's been a lot of moving parts over the last few weeks, with some of the players that are hugely valued in the team having serious injuries and the youngsters as well, so I am fortunate to the staff and the coaching group - they have done a tremendous job.

"I think it is the courage that we are showing to a new style of football and I think it is great and they seem to be enjoying it. I am really proud of them today."

On player of the match Maddie Feaunati: "She is a special girl and we are very fortunate to have such brilliant back rowers.

"We do train very hard and we train above the game demand, in a high-performance mindset, we are a very fit team and when we understand our game and have clarity they are able to be themselves. We are an authentic team which is what makes us special."

'We had a few areas exposed'

Scotland head coach Sione Fukofuka: "I am very disappointed to be honest. The occasion was fantastic but full credit to John Mitchell, Meg Jones and the team. We had a few areas exposed and we need to work on that."

On what he will work on: "A bit around our field position and decision-making. The set piece worked well sometimes and then it didn't. A lot to work on for next week.

"We will take those lessons from England and turn it around. I feel really confident that next week we can turn it around and put on a good performance.

"I want to see accuracy, we are a good team, a clinical team and accurate but under pressure today we weren't and England were able to expose that.

"The occasion was amazing and we embraced that there were 30,000 plus in the stands."

'A baptism of fire'

Scotland captain Rachel Malcolm: "It is not what we wanted and the scoreline is disappointing but as we said before the game, we are here for the performance.

"Where we are in our cycle, England aren't a team that we are ready to compete with, but the promising thing is that we created some pretty cool chances today but the disappointing is that we didn't stop them enough times."

On what went wrong for Scotland: "I think it was a bit of inexperience here today across the board, we are all still learning each other. Today was a baptism of fire and they exposed our weaknesses. This was a brilliant test for us but we hoped we would out in a better performance today."

On Rhona Lloyd scoring a try: "Of all the people to get Murrayfield on their feet, Rhona Lloyd is definitely one of them. Scotland is everything to her and what she has given to Scotland over the years is incredible."

A final message to the fans: "I just want to say a massive thank you, today has been a dream come true, the performance and the outcome wasn't what we wanted but you guys created something that we never thought was possible in our careers. Let's make it happen again."

'Relentless'

England captain Meg Jones: "I think we were relentless today, we want to keep building every game we have and this game gives us great feedback. We want to just keep getting better and better every game we have. I am really proud of how the girls adapted today."

On the atmosphere at Murrayfield: "What a beautiful stadium, thank you for having us - it was an amazing spectacle and the fans were outstanding."

On some players playing playing out of position: "The bottom line is we are really good rugby players and we have great adaptability. We train all kinds of scenarios but the fundamental is you have to run forwards and score tries."

England number eight and player of the match Maddie Feaunati: "It felt really good and it was good to get out there with the girls at Murrayfield, what an amazing occasion. I am super proud of the girls, everyone was outstanding.

"The starters set the tone, the bench came on and scored tries and executed their role really well."

On what it felt like to play at Murrayfield in front of a record crowd: "You can feel the aura, you can feel the spirit and you can feel the skills and what it means to the Scottish girls.

"It is a huge occasion, everyone wants to play a game here and now we can say we have done it."
