O'Sullivan has vowed to keep trying to win number eight for a few more years at least, having come close during a run to the semi-finals last year. Zhao Xintong was the victor on that occasion, with the Chinese potter going on to beat Mark Williams in the final.
The Rocket will be hoping to go one better this time around, but he'll certainly be tested against He, who beat Jack Lisowski en route to qualifying. Follow Express Sport below for all the latest scores, news and updates from the World Championship...

World No.1 Judd Trump resumes his match in the evening session.
The 2019 world champion is still chasing a second Crucible triumph and lost four of the first five frames to qualifier, and three-time ranking event winner, Gary Wilson.

Ronnie O'Sullivan 7-2 He Guoqiang
Ronnie O'Sullivan is in total control, and has a five-frame lead once more.
It's a raft of pinks for the Rocket in a superb break of 86, and an 87-0 frame.
That's that for this match. It will resume with a second session tomorrow at 2.30pm and Ronnie shouldn't take long to get the job done.

Ronnie O'Sullivan 6-2 He Guoqiang
The scrappiest frame of this match so far, but Ronnie O'Sullivan takes it. And he has a commanding advantage once again.
A fourth half-century of the match puts him four in front and we've got another short break as Ronnie leaves the arena.
He Guoqiang needs to be almost perfect to pull off a comeback now.

Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-2 He Guoqiang
He won his first frame, now he has his first 50+ break at the Crucible!
A 77 means The Pistol has two frames in a row, and the gap is only three frames again.
The Crucible crowd groaned at one shot, with the pink taking an absolute age to drop into the pocket.
But after that he executes a lovely plant. He misses on the black but Ronnie stays in his seat, because he'd have needed multiple snookers.

Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-1 He Guoqiang
A big sigh of relief for He Guoqiang - he avoids a whitewash and has his first ever frame at the Crucible!
It's a scrappy frame with some unexpected misses and bad mistakes from both players.
Debutant He pulls off a brilliant reverse double on the final red but the positioning of the cue ball is so awkward, he's forced to play safe.
Three unbelievable pots in a row - on the yellow, green and brown - eventually follow.
He can't send the pink down but it doesn't matter, he takes this one 65-33.

Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-0 He Guoqiang
This match is getting away from He Guoqiang. That was a huge chance for his first frame.
After messing up a safety shot, he allows Ronnie O'Sullivan to build a break of 42 until the Rocket misses a red into the bottom-left.
That allows He to respond with a 44 to take the lead, but he puts too much on a red into the same pocket.
O'Sullivan improves to 56-44 but finds the jaws of that same bottom-left on the final red.
He leaves himself in a really awkward position behind the brown as he tries to get his first frame on the board.
But into a blind pocket... he makes it! An absolutely brilliant shot.
Yet he then misses the blue into the middle. O'Sullivan takes advantage, dropping the blue and the pink to take it. What a steal from Ronnie.

'Nobody pays attention' - Stephen Hendry on Crucible Curse
Stephen Hendry has brushed off claims that the Crucible Curse is legitimate.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4, he explained: "I don't think anyone who comes to the Crucible really pays attention to the curse.
"It's some sort of weird coincidence, I don't think Zhao Xintong is bothered about it, I think he was nervous in the first round only because he is world champion, it's a new experience coming to the Crucible as defending champion.
"I think now he will play his natural game and I still think he is the man to beat."

Ronnie O'Sullivan given verdict ahead of Crucible opener
Stephen Hendry has shared his verdict ahead of Ronnie O'Sullivan's World Championship opener this afternoon.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4, he said: "Ronnie doesn't play a lot of snooker these days, so it's hard to know what sort of form he is going to be in.
"What he does know here, though, is how to get it done. The first round is always a round that is a bit sticky. You never play your best.
You never expect to play your best in the first round but if you get through that then if you know how to get it done, which Ronnie does, then you can't discount him ever."
