Everton will welcome Liverpool to Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday for the first ever Merseyside Derby.

After coming from behind against Brentford last weekend, Everton head into Sunday’s game feeling relatively confident.

The Toffees are firmly in contention for European football next season, and fans are hopeful of seeing a strong finish to the campaign under David Moyes.

What is your prediction for this weekend’s Merseyside Derby? 🫣

Three points would be MASSIVE! 💪

It’s back to Hill Dickinson Stadium this weekend, and Everton finally welcome bitter rivals Liverpool for the first derby at HDS.

For many, this is the most anticipated match of the whole season, and there is potential for HDS to have its best moment so far if Everton can win.

With Everton in form, the challenge is not lost on Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk.

And the Dutchman believes the first ever derby at Hill Dickinson is simply huge.

Admitting he is personally feeling down after the loss to Paris Saint-Germain, he said: “We should be very disappointed at this stage and at this point this evening.

“But a massive game awaits for us. We all know how big it is. It will obviously be a tough one, but it is something to look forward to.

“However, he ended with a sobering note on his current headspace: “But at this stage, I’m just not in a good place because we got knocked out of the Champions League.”

Everton get perfect outcome as Liverpool lose

What is the better Merseyside Derby memory? 🤩

Some Everton eyes will have been on Liverpool’s game with PSG last night – and it was the ideal outcome for the Toffees.

Van Dijk’s comments suggest there is big disappointment in that dressing room after the loss.

To lose 4-0 on aggregate is pretty comprehensive, and that had to have hurt.

It is now on Everton to try and capitalise. Liverpool come to HDS on the back of a damaging defeat, and it’s simply a brilliant chance for the Toffees to get points on the board.

The league table is so tight now, with just six points separating sixth and 14th.

It is vital that Everton try and throw down the gauntlet to some of the other clubs just below.
