Following Mexico's 2-0 defeat of South Africa, which saw three players sent off in the second half, the other two Group A sides faced off a few hours later on Thursday evening.
In a game that ended in a 2-1 victory for South Korea, it was former Celtic striker Oh Hyeon-gyu who grabbed the winner, after coming on as a substitute for Son Heung-min in the second half.
Following good work in the midfield to get the ball to Feyenoord star Hwang In-beom, the 29-year-old delivered a cross into the Czech Republic box, which was tapped home by Besiktas forward Oh.
Unfortunately for current Celtic star Yang Hyun-jun, he was left on the bench for the duration of the contest, as Hong Myung-bo elected to go with other substitutes rather than the 24-year-old.
Yang will be hoping for some game-time when South Korea play Mexico in six days' time.
